Education

Valeriu Herta was born in the village of Bardar, Moldova in 1960.
The first professional debut of his artwork took place in 1981 in „National Exposition of Ex‑libris” in Moldova. The following year (1982) Mr. Herta graduated from Chisinau Polytechnic Institute, Urbanite Faculty, architect.
Since 1995, Mr. Herta has been a member of the Moldavian Union Artists’ Association and a permanent fixture in plastic art. He often received „Honorable Mention” for his work in Competitions around and in Moldova and Romania.
The artist is presented in Encyclopedia Bio-Bibliographique of the art of the International Contemporary Ex-Libris volume XXIV (1999) by Artur Mario da Mota Miranda, Portugal and in Encyclopedia of contemporary Romanian artists (2012). Presented in german Encyclopedia “ALLGEMEINES KUNSTLER – LEXICON”.
He is the initiator of the calligraphy competition for young people “Latin Lilies”, the first edition being in 2004. He initiated the “Stamps Cabinet” collection of the Library of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova, donating 22 of the best engravings in his collection.
2010-2011 worked to restore Lithography Workshop in Moldova.
Currently he is a lecturer at the “Ion Creanga” State Pedagogical University.
